Hargraves Solar Farm
Hargraves Solar Farm is located approximately 30 km southwest of Mudgee, on the Country of the Wiradjuri People. It is situated in the Mid-Western Regional Council Local Government Area (LGA).
The Hargraves Solar Farm, located within the Central West Orana Region chosen for the good-quality solar resource in the area, the complementary diurnal wind profile, and its proximity to the Central West Orana REZ.
With both high-capacity factor and high solar irradiation, the site presents the opportunity to deploy solar panels with large annual energy yields. The proposed Project capacity is 300 - 400MW.
The Project would likely export the electricity produced via connection into the 330kV transmission line extending from Wellington to Mt Piper or the 500kV transmission line extending from Wollar to Mt Piper into a PPA into the NEM.
The Site benefits from having substantial portions of already cleared land. The supporting ancillary infrastructure has been initially considered, but additional analysis of this is required. Construction is not predicted to be majorly constrained by any environmental constraints at this stage. Additional on-site assessment and ground truthing will be required to ensure this is the case.
The Site also benefits from rolling hills and low gradients. Generally, substantial portions of the land are northerly facing; in addition, due to the low sloping of the Site, much of the southerly facing will also present adequate areas for deployment of solar panels. The exact spacing requirements will be investigated further.
